The next Achill Roar event will take place on the Saturday 11th of September 2010 .

Cost of entry and other information relating to the 2010 event is as follows:

Early Entries - Up to 31st Jan: - €44 solo and €90 Team

Regular Entries  1st Feb to 31st August:- €49 solo and €100 Team

Late Entries - 1st to noon on 7th September:- €59 solo and €120 Team

Costs Quoted are fully Inclusive of All Entry Charges for the online entry system provider and a €2 from each entry fee will be donated to a local charitable cause

 Race Check-in at Cycle Superstore in Tallaght on Wed 8th Sept between 12 noon and 9pm and at Roar Race HQ at Achill Head Hotel, Keel as detailed below:

Friday 10th Sept from 1800 to  2300 hrs - All Competitors are requested to Check-in at this time

Saturday 11th Sept: 0800 to 0845hrs - Limited Check-in - Expert Solo and Relay Teams Only

Saturday 11th Sept: 0900 to 1030 hrs - Limited check-in - Sport Solo Only

Race Start Times -  Saturday 12th September:

Expert Solo and Expert Relay  - 1000 hrs

Sports Solo - 1200 hrs 

It is likely that this year we will have wave starts for each category so please be honest about your proposed category as it will be better for you to be competing against similar level participants.

We may have to put late entries in an unsuitable category if any one sectionis oversubscribed so please all be honest about your abilities and realistic expectations

For guidance:

Elite - Typically top 20% in competitive events

Runner - Typically placing 20 to 50% in competitive events

Jogger / Walker - Typically placing 50+% in competitive events

The discipline’s for the Achill ROAR event are:

  • Running – Mainly off road
  • Cycling – On Tarmac suitable for any type of bike
  • Swimming or Paddling a Sit on Top Kayak (Kayaks Supplied)

Sport Solo: 

Short run to lake

Swim 400m or Kayak 1300m *
Short run to transition

Run 8km

Bike 22km 
Short Dash to Finish

Expert Solo and Expert Relay Teams: 

Short run to lake

Swim 800m or Kayak 2600m *
Short run to transition

Run 16km

Bike 44km
Short Dash to Finish

Exact Swim /  Kayak distances will be matched to give a "fair" race Surprised!
