Overall Results -> Here Congrats to all that competed and completed the West Wicklow Roar in glorious sunshine last Saturday 
Winners in the Men's Expert Category was John Caffrey just 7 seconds ahead of Niall Somers and Cormac Conroy in third. In the Ladies Expert Category a titanic battle up front all day saw former Olympic mountain biker Jenny Mc Cauley finish just ahead of current Irish MTB Champion Beth Mc Cluskey and WAR winner Derval Devaney in third.
In the sports category the clear winner in the mens race was Brendan O Brien ahead of Philip Kavanagh and Michael Curley whilst Emma Donlon led home Jenny Kilbride and Mags Fitzgerad in the ladies event.
Points for the National Adv Race Series are updated and posted HERE Next race in the series is Galeforce West on 21st August, followed by the Achill Roar on 11th Septembet and WAR Glenmalure on 25th September.

WHAT: Multisport Event - Combination of Kayaking, Road Biking and Off Road Running.
WHERE: Event will be based in the scenic Blessington Lakes area of West Wicklow. The event will start and finish at the Tulfaris Hotel just south of Blessington on the lakeshore. Location details for Tulfarris HERE
WHY: Excellent organisation, warm local welcome, many superb sights, challenging terrain and a great value for money event for all.
The West Wicklow Roar was the second race in the National Adventure Race Series following on the recent WAR Glendalough event. Current series leaders are John Caffrey ahead of Niall Somers and Jenny Mc Cauley who is just a point ahead of Derval Devany - full series update in the next day or two

You may Bring your Own (BYO) Kayaks if you wish to do so - single boats only. Boats must be in position by 9am - you must have a spray deck - Chief Water Marshall Ciaran Maguire will advise on morning of the race whether these are mandatory
Weather forecast is looking good for Saturday so we hope to be able to cut down on the Mandatory Kit Requirement but you should bring all of it just in case - Mountain Weather can be unpredictable and variable and people do get injured - that might be you!!!!
Wave starts for Expert will be at 10.00 and 10.30 Wave starts for Sports will be at 11.00, 11.30 and 12.00 Each wave will have approx 100 in it and fastest (elite) will start first for both Expert and Sports races
We have decided to use a punched start timing system which will facilitate anyone looking to change waves on Saturday morning within reason - wave size will have an overall limit of 116. This can be done on Saturday morning so no need to mail us about it. A simple explanation of the "Puched/ dibber " timing system is available HERE
Tulfarris Hotel will be serving quality food n Drink after the event so you are asked to support them as they have us by giving us valued lake access and transition area facilities.
After event hooley/ seisúin mór will be in the Ballyknockan Inn on Saturday night
This is close to TA2 which will be available for camping on Saturday night - nominal charge for the farmer of €5/ hd and toilets are available in the adjacent farmyard you will run past on Saturday on your way down toward the lake.

Sport Solo:
Kayak 1000m Bike 11.5 km Off Road run ~ 7km Bike 10.5km
Expert Solo and Expert Relay Teams:
Kayak 2000m Bike 11.5km Off Road Run 7km Bike 18km Offroad Run 7km Bike 16.5km
