Map of the Full Sports Course and Expert Course available by clicking on the above maps
Sports course participants will return to the Finish directly from TA2 after completion of Run1

Experts will continue on bike to complete a clockwise circuit of Sorrell Hill to TA3 which is located at Ballynultagh Gap
The will then complete a second run in an anticlockwise direction passing close to the summit of Black Hill as shown in expert map
Please note that the you do not go to the summit of Blackhill - you countou arouns below the summit to avoid possible erosion near the summit.
Experts will complete the same run as the Sports as in above map including the lakeshore section to CP1b after the hill run to CP1a.
After completion of second run on Black Hill, experts will return to Lacken and the finish at Tulfarris on bike.
Extreme care to be take on the bike particularly on the descent after TA3 due to potholes and gravel on the road.

Course distances have been finalised and are summarised above - Click on above maps for full details.

A superbly scenic but challenging course is promised and our Start/ Finish location is now confirmed as the Tulfarris Hotel and Golf Resort at the southern end of Blessington Lakes.
The route will take you to some lesser known parts of West Wicklow but we are certain you will enjoy the course we have planned for you.

After a quick sprint across a short section of manicured golf course you grab a partner and one of the two man sit on top kayaks and head out on the marked out kayak course

After returning to the lake shore you run back to the transition area where put on your helmet and head towarde the rolling lakeshore road and the village of Ballyknockan.
After 11km you reach TA1 and rack your bikes and head up the hill on the north side of Ballnastockan Brook to CP1a, and then pass by TA2 on the way to CP1b after a lakeside out and back run before retuning to your bikes.

From here the Sports class will return to the Finish at Tulfarris whilst the Expert class will continue toward Lacken on the lakeside road and take the lake roar for a clockwise circuit round Sorrell Hill arriving 18km later at the Ballynultagh Gap - TA2.
Another testing hill run awaits you here as Black Hill (602m - above sea level, not from the Gap!) beckons.

After returning to the bikes you are rewarded with a swift descent to the village of Lacken and a return to the finish at Tulfarris 16km later.
Extreme care to be taken on this descent due to potholes and loose gravel.
Total bike distance for the Expert class is 46km and all is on tarmaced country roads so a road bike with high volume/ puncture resistant tyres and a triple chain ring unless you are a strong biker is probably the best option given the state of Irish roads and the climbs involved but any bike you have (Other than a dedicated Time Trail bike - not suitable due to nature of route) is probably ok - the more time you take the more time to enjoy the scenery Cool.
